SEATTLE PRIDE IN THE PARK

Jessica Lamphere created her Rainbow Art Yarn Installation in June 2020. During the covid shutdown Jessica strung her yarn around trees for miles to celebrate pride.

The strings of yarn signify the pieces of the gay community that uplifted and raised Jessica.

Jessica has been awarded two Creative Individual Grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board.

These pictures are what pride means to me. Growing up in the 80's and 90's with gay parents meant that our family was what we made it.

In my lifetime

  • 1990: World Health Organization removes homosexuality from the International Classification of Diseases.
